Wafflenugget: The Photo Story

Wafflenugget, is my sweet, fluffy, psychiatric service dog.

When Waffle came home, our lives transformed exponentially for the better. Her presence brought life, laughter and joy into our days with her bunny hops, snugs and snoozletown sillies.

She also brought light into darkness for me, her momma, while I was in a deep depression due to PTSD from a nine year long misdiagnosis.

Through pheromone association training and positive feedback (aka lots of bacon bits), I trained Waffy to predict my flashbacks, panic attacks and alert me when I was stuck in OCD rituals.

She now helps me manage my OCD by alerting me with a paw when I am stuck ritualizing. Additionally, with that very same (exceptionally large) paw, she also alerts me prior to a PTSD flashback or panic attack so that I can remove myself from the situation I am in and manage it privately.

Additionally, by way of snuggling me in moments of darkness, punching me out of bed in the morning and yapping until we find our way outside, she keeps my depression at bay.

I often struggle to find the words but I am not exaggerating when I say, Waffy helped save my life and I could not be more grateful for her.
